How do I write a value proposition for B2B SaaS?
A value proposition should let the right buyer say “that's for me” in a few seconds. Most say what the product is instead.
- What makes a good value proposition?
- Should we lead with features?
- How do we test it?
A B2B SaaS value proposition names who it is for, the problem in their words, the result they get and why you are different, with proof. Keep the headline to one sentence a buyer would repeat. Lead with the outcome, not the feature list. Test it with five customers and a small ad or email test before you put it on the homepage.
| Weak | Strong | |
|---|---|---|
| Headline | The all-in-one AI platform for modern finance | Close the books in 3 days instead of 12 |
| Who | For businesses of all sizes | For finance teams at 50 to 500 person SaaS companies |
| Why you | Powerful, flexible and easy to use | Connects to your billing system and reconciles automatically |
| Proof | Trusted by leading companies | Customer quote with a number and a name |
A simple formula
For [who], [product] helps you [result] without [main pain of the alternative], because [difference]. Then add one proof point. The formula is a draft, not the final copy.
How to test it
Read it to five customers and ask them to say it back in their words. Then run two versions in an email or small ad test to your ICP and compare replies or clicks. Buyers increasingly check claims with AI tools; Gartner's 2026 research found 45% used generative AI in a recent purchase, so make claims specific and provable.
- Headlines built on adjectives: powerful, seamless, all-in-one.
- No customer named in the value proposition.
- Features in place of outcomes.
- Claims with no proof.
- Written by committee and tested on nobody.
- A specific result buyers care about.
- The customer named.
- One clear difference from the alternative.
- Proof: a number, a quote, a logo.
- Tested with customers and a small campaign.
What founders and researchers say
We read the threads, surveys and reports so you don't have to. Each card is our summary, linked to the source.
45% of buyers used AI in a recent purchase. Vague claims are easy for AI summaries to skip; specific ones get repeated.
Read the release →SaaS founders sharing homepage reviews get the same feedback over and over: say who it's for and what result they get in the first line.
Browse the threads →51% say they are more likely to meet misleading information from AI than from a rep. Clear, provable claims protect you.

How long should a value proposition be?
A one-line headline, a one or two sentence subhead and a proof point.
Should we mention AI in the value proposition?
Only if it changes the result the buyer gets. Lead with the result either way.
Can we have different value propositions for different segments?
Yes, on segment pages and in campaigns, as long as the core positioning stays the same.
